Tactical Training for Church Security Teams
This is a two-day class that trains students to fight using their bodies (krav maga) and with a pistol (Israeli Shooting System). Day one begins with an introduction to the principles of armed security and the responsibilities and duties of team members. Next, students will be trained in principles of krav maga. This is important because not every threat requires a shooting response. Later on Day one, students will learn safe pistol handling, including basic safety rules, procedures for loading and unloading, determining pistol condition, clearing malfunctions, drawing from concealment, and proper care and maintenance of pistols. Later on day one, students will go through a series of practice exercises that will facilitate muscle memory needed for stopping a threat.
Day two begins at the firing range. We begin with a range safety briefing, which includes rules of the range and an explanation of the days practice exercises. As always, we start with dry practice, going through the various shooting exercises and scenarios that will follow. Again, the purpose is to develop muscle memory. In live fire, students will repeat the previous exercises. There will be surpise exercises at the end of the day.
Coffee and water will be provided, along with light lunch, both days.
Students must bring the following:
- Semiautomatic pistol, plus two or more magazines
- Magazine pouch that holds at least two magazines
- Holster that attaches to belt, for fast draw from shooting side
- Garment that conceals holster and pistol
- 250 rounds of ammo (Do not bring inside classroom)
- Eye & ear protection
- Athletic shoes & comfortable outdoor wear
