Church Security: Non-Lethal Tactical Training

This 2-day course runs from 8 am until 5 pm, both days. Since physical activities are involved, students should wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes and athletic-type shoes. There will be ample time for lunch, breaks, and rest. Coffee and water will be provided, along with light lunch, both days.

This course uses the Israeli Security Model and related concepts to analyze recent attacks on U.S. churches and to understand how these attacks might have been stopped sooner or prevented altogether. Students will learn how to apply proven tactics for detecting and stopping a threat using non-lethal means.

On day one, students will be analyze videos of recent church attacks and learn methods of threat assessment, which includes identifying suspicious indicators and questioning of suspicious persons. At the end of day one, students will be introduced to krav maga, the Israeli method of self-defense. On day two, students will begin practice of some basic krav maga movements, specifically the skills of defending against fists, knives, clubs, firearms, and other weapons. There will be surprise exercises which require students to demonstrate skills of threat assessment and krav maga tactics.

I promise that no one will get hurt. If you are a church greeter, usher, or armed security, you really need to take this course.
